ADAM E. ANDERSON, RLA, LEED AP DIRECTOR/FOUNDER
Adam E. Anderson is a registered landscape architect and Founder/Director of Design Under Sky. Projects vary in a range of scales that include but are not excluded to a hospital healing gardens, residential gardens, masterplanning, campus plazas, rooftop gardens, and urban parks, as well as commissioned public art works.
His work negotiates with the ever changing landscape by understanding the unique phenomenological qualities and cultural influences inherent in a site, and then deploying interventions to embrace, reveal, and often embellish these qualities. "Nature" is abstracted in our projects, culminating in a celebration of wonder found in both the technological and ecological.
He received his Masters in Landscape Architecture (MLA II) from the Rhode Island School of Design where he was an Olmsted Scholar and Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture from The Ohio State University. He has taught at RISD since 2014 and has been a visiting critic at Harvard Graduate School of Design, The Ohio State University, Northeastern University, and the Boston Architectural College.
Prior to forming the D.U.S. Adam worked for the award winning offices of Landworks Studio and Ground, Inc. in Boston working on several international and regional projects.
AUSTIN BAMFORD DESIGNER
Austin Bamford’s understanding of landscape stems from a diverse background, including human ecological studies, sculptural practice, environmental stewardship and landscape construction. He works as an alchemist—revealing, testing and forging connections between landscape phenomena and human experience. Austin brings to D.U.S. a drive to craft the shared exploration and discovery of poignant landscapes through theory, research and design.
Austin earned a Master of Landscape Architecture from the Rhode Islands School of Design and an undergraduate degree in Human Ecology from the College of the Atlantic. He is a 2017 University Olmsted Scholar and has taught courses and served as a visiting critic at RISD.
YIFAN QUI DESIGNER
Yifan earned a Master of Landscape Architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design where he practiced not only as a landscape architect but also as a craftsman. Through cross media study, he imbued an experimental vision into his work.
Prior to the study in RISD, Yifan worked as a partner of QIWEI studio, specializing in environmental art design and built. His built works include Ningbo city Yuyao river pedestrian bridge fresco and Shanghai Baogang theme sculpture.
